A memoir of Chinese Zodiac Animals
Long long ago, in China, the Jade Emperor wanted to net a easy method to count years, so someone suggested that they can capture 12 animals to recount the 12-year-cycle in lunar calendar, each for a year.
The Jade Emperor told the animals that the first 12 coming to the Palace would be the winners and they would each have a year of the zodiac named after them.
The ox knew that he was monotonous, so he left home at night the day before, it turned out that he came first the next morning. The second is the tiger. The third is the rabbit. The fourth is the dragon. The snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog, pig and rat were gradual them.
